UGC NET December 2025 Exam Schedule Released: Subject-Wise Dates & Timings

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially released the subject-wise schedule for the UGC-NET December 2025 examination. This cycle is set to determine the eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Assistant Professor, and admission to Ph.D. programs across various Indian universities.

UGC-NET December 2025: Key Highlights

The examination will be conducted in a Computer Based Test (CBT) mode across the country.

  • Exam Period: December 31, 2025, to January 7, 2026.
  • Duration: 180 minutes (3 hours) for both Paper I and Paper II, with no break between papers.
  • Shift Timings:
    • Shift I: 09:00 AM to 12:00 PM
    • Shift II: 03:00 PM to 06:00 PM
  • City Intimation: Candidates can expect their exam city slips approximately 10 days before the commencement of the exam.

Below is the detailed timetable based on the official NTA notification. Please note that on December 31, 2025, the exam is conducted in the Morning Shift only. There is also a break on January 1, 2026, for the New Year holiday.

Important Instructions for Aspirants

  1. Admit Card: Admit cards are usually released 3–4 days before the specific exam date. Ensure you download and print a clear copy.
  2. Reporting Time: Candidates should arrive at the center at least 90 minutes before the exam starts (7:30 AM for Shift I and 1:30 PM for Shift II).
  3. Documents Required: Bring your printed Admit Card, a valid Government ID (Aadhaar, PAN, etc.), and a passport-size photograph.
  4. No Negative Marking: Since there is no negative marking, candidates are encouraged to attempt all 150 questions.
